Introduction
Life is boring.
That’s just a fact.
We shouldn’t feel bad when we have days or weeks with very little to talk about.
Everyone has this.
Everyone’s lives are boring.
Or, at least mine is.
Much of this week was taken up in either doing the same old stuff or resuming some old habits/projects.
Let’s begin.
What I’ve Created
Lots of Codecademy progress
Continued work on my client's website
Performance updates on my personal website
Codecademy was largely put on the side for the past few weeks. Some major projects outside of the linear path came up and took away all of my free time.
However, I’ve finished those projects and can resume my progress through the Front-End Engineering path.
I made some really great progress this week. I’m now at 75% completion, and I have high hopes that this last 25% won’t take too long.
I’m excited to finally have this massive goal finished and be able to apply everything I’ve learned to some fun new projects.
What I’ve Consumed
The Escape Artist by Jonathan Freedland
The X-Files
Having finished both Christianity & Liberalism and Sherlock, I have now moved on to a book I’ve been looking forward to reading for quite some time now.
The Escape Artist is the story of Rudolf Vrba, a young Jew who found himself in the hellish landscape of Auschwitz in 1942.
Young Vrba was only 17 when he was captured and escorted to the camp.
He endured incomprehensible suffering and witnessed and, in some cases, was forced to aid in some of the worst acts of human depravity imaginable.
What Vrba only dreamt of while in captivity was that he would be one of the first men to escape the death camp to warn the world of what was taking place.
I’m roughly a third of the way through the book and thoroughly gripped.
Besides that, I’ve also been enjoying the original ‘93 X-Files.
Between the cheesy intro and the stunningly bad special effects, what’s not to love?
Seriously, I’ve been really enjoying the show. The stories are compelling and have an air of nostalgic wonder.
Would recommend it to any other paranormal freaks like me out there.
What went Well
Started Codecademy again with little to no problems
Read a ton
Had a nice time at church on Wednesday
Training at work was smooth and effective
What went Wrong
Spent a lot of time alone consuming media (not ideal)
Feel like I’m slacking a bit at work
Didn’t make some very important calls
What I’m Taking Away
I’m so close to finishing Codecademy
The better I do my job, the more fun it is
I need to be more responsible with how I spend my life if I want to live on my own soon
God is good, I’m only a little crazy
Conclusion
Thanks for taking the time to catch up on what I’m doing!
I hope we can appreciate the boring stages of life together.
As always, I will write to you again next week.
God bless,
-Luke
