Introduction
The future is an excitingly terrifying thing.
Whether it be the anticipation of a phone call or the possibility of a life-changing opportunity, life is always interesting if you look for it.
You’ll understand why I say these things here in a second.
So, let’s get right into it.
What I’ve Created
Business T-shirts for a friend
Podcast outline
Business T-shirts. As some of you may know, I’ve been working with a friend of mine who’s starting a landscaping business. I’m currently in the process of building his company website. But, this week I dedicated my time to designing and ordering some T-shirts for him. Here’s the final design we came up with.
Podcast outline. Just wanted to mention this so I can say that the podcast is not dead, but on a little vacation as I get more guests lined up. I’ve been working with a specific guest that I’m super excited to have on. We were meant to record this week, but some emergency stuff happened that has postponed it. Nonetheless, very excited for this interview and whatever else is in the future of Technicalls.
Energy-Management Thought Piece. I cannot express how much I love writing these thought pieces. It’s such a joy to sit down and think through in-depth issues; I hope they can benefit whoever reads them. You can read this article here.
What I’ve Consumed
Christianity & Liberalism by J. Gresham Machen
Sherlock Holmes
The Last Samurai
The Green Mile
Christianity & Liberalism. This book continues to impress me with its clarity and insightfulness. The presentation of both points of view regarding the issues of the Gospel provides a great contrast between the two opposing religions. I’d highly recommend the book to anyone, Christian or otherwise, as a clear and fair presentation of both sides.
Sherlock Holmes. I now have only one 10-page short story left until I have finished the Complete Sherlock Holmes. I’m putting off reading this story as long as possible as I can’t imagine being finished. But, I must. I should also mention that much to my sadness, the later stories get increasingly strange and fantastical and less believable and interesting. For example, one story I read concluded with the startling fact that a 70-year-old man was taking money serum to become young again! Very strangle, although still entertaining.
The Last Samurai. I’ve not mentioned any movies in this section before. But, as I’m an avid movie watcher myself, I thought I’d mention a few. The Last Samurai was recommended by a friends as one of the best drama/war movies ever. Let me just say, I was not disappointed. The story was compelling, the action was incredible, and the message one I can appreciate. Even though I may not agree with the religious convictions of the Japanese as portrayed in the movie, I have a great respect for men who live by great discipline and honor. 10/10 movie in my book.
The Green Mile. I’ll be honest, I just watched this movie last night and I’m still trying to figure out what the heck I just watched. I won’t spoil the movie for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but I was both thoroughly captivated by the deep story and message of the film and completely unsettled by the whole thing. The portrayal of working with men on death row was extremely well done and the characters were astoundingly real. Stephen King is a very strange man, not one I particularly like personally, but he does make a pretty darn good story. 8/10 everything considered.
What went Well
Read a ton
Got some much-needed mental clarity on some personal issues
Had a lovely conversation about President Van Buren with my Grandad
Grabbed dinner with a few close friends
Got connected with a very interesting job opportunity through the Praxis network
This last thing mentioned is what I was alluding to in my introduction.
Nothing is certain yet regarding it, so I won’t spend too much time on it.
But, I got connected with a Praxis Alumni who works as a software developer in North Carolina.
His company has a super cool program for new recruits, and he thinks I’d be a perfect fit.
The only problem is that it would involve packing up everything I own and moving to North Carolina for a minimum of two years.
So… yeah. Big decision.
Be praying for me guys!
What went Wrong
Work on Monday was insanely stressful
Didn’t work on coding stuff at all
There was a lot more that went wrong this week than this. But, I like to keep this section limited to things that I have some control over.
What I’m Taking Away
Pumped for podcast next week
Reading is a wonderful gift and therapeutic hobby
Continue praying about the NC opportunity and seek wise counsel
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed catching up with me!
Pretty much all of what happened this week regards things happening in the future (hence the title), so look forward to future updates.
As always, I will write to you again next week.
God bless,
-Luke
Also, happy 16th birthday to my little sister Chloe!
I love her so much and it chokes me up just thinking about how old she’s getting.
She’s come so far in her maturity and I’m indescribably proud of who she’s become.
Love ya sista, can’t wait to see what God has planned for you.
